Nerja

Nerja is an old fishing town situated approximately 30 miles to the east of Malaga (in the opposite direction to the crowded holiday centres of Torremolinas, Fuengirola and Marbella). Development has been restricted with a limit of three storeys placed on any new building, which, unusually for the Costa del Sol, has helped retain Nerja's traditional Andalucian charm.

.
Stunningly located between mountains and sea, Nerja retains its traditional atmosphere

With its narrow streets, Nerja has retained its old small town character It offers a wide selection of restaurants, bars, shops, and a daily fresh meat, fish and vegetable market. The weekly street market is ideal for that unusual present to take home.

When you want a rest from the shopping, Nerja has five beaches. There is also the 'Balcon de Europa', a promenade jutting into the sea and surrounded by street cafes. This provides an ideal spot to meet friends or shelter from the sunshine.
