Lying in the foothills of the Sierra Almijara, part of the Sierra Nevada range, Nerja is an ideal centre for pleasant drives along the coastal road or into the mountains.
There are numerous day trips which can be made from Nerja, the most popular destination being Granada, with the beautiful Alhambra Palace and Generalife Gardens, which is only an hour and a half away.
A more local attraction are the magnificent caves of Nerja, only two miles away from the villa, and containing the world's largest natural column.
A short drive inland will take you to numerous traditional villages. One of the most picturesque of these is Frigiliana, approximately 30 mins drive North of Nerja, which is perched on a mountain side with traditional cobbled streets.
